Case Study : RAI

The Restaurants Association of Ireland (RAI) was formed in 1970 with the initial goal of forming a strong lobby that would represent the industry at Government level on issues of importance to the Irish restaurant industry. The RAI represents more than 2,500 members, with establishments representing restaurants, coffee shops, hotel restaurants, gastropubs, golf clubs, and cookery schools. They also have over 150 trade partners, businesses that are approved suppliers of products and services for restaurants. To work in Ireland, all restaurant staff must follow certain standards of compliance, and they must be effectively trained before undertaking their everyday duties in the workplace. These broad lists of courses range from Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP), Manual Handling, and Fire Safety programmes, to name a few.

Enterprise Education: Hospitality Sector

With no platform to deploy their training and development programmes, Olive proposed to transform and digitise the whole process for RAI, to build courses to assist with staff upskilling and learning. Accordingly, Olive developed a number of courses for the hospitality sector, using the VidayoPro platform. The videos were then put together into SCORM packages and hosted on a LMS. This saved restaurants across the country significant amounts of time and cost, and work better than hiring external trainers to provide training over a two-three day period.
